The Huntingdon Conservative Constituency Association (HCCA) has received notification that Cllr Ryan Fuller has resigned from the Conservative Group at Cambridgeshire County Council, resulting in his resignation from the Conservative Party. Cllr Fuller now serves as an Independent Councillor for St. Ives North and Wyton.
Cllr Ian Gardener, Chairman of HCCA, expressed his thoughts on the matter:
"Since 2017, Ryan has served as the Conservative Councillor for St Ives North and Wyton, and previously as a District Councillor for St Ives West. As the Leader of HDC until 2022, Ryan accomplished a great deal for Huntingdonshire, and we extend our gratitude to Cllr Fuller for his contributions during this period.
While we regret this decision, we understand Ryan's reasons for making it. We will refrain from commenting at this time on the factors that led Cllr Fuller to this position, as we respect his privacy.
As Chairman of HCCA, I take pride in the dedication and hard work exhibited by our active Councillors in our Constituency. We hold our Councillors and Candidates to a high standard, as that is what the residents of Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire expect. Additionally, we are fortunate to have an exceptional Parliamentary Candidate in Ben Obese-Jecty."
HCCA will play a crucial role in reclaiming control of Cambridgeshire County Council in 2025 and Huntingdonshire District Council in 2026. The Association is diligently working to identify the most qualified candidates for each County Division and District Ward, including St Ives North and Wyton.
