Cllr Richard West

District Councillor, Great Paxton

A District Councillor for over 14 years, Richard West currently represents the ward of Great Paxton, including Abbotsley, Great Gransden, Toseland, Waresley-cum-Tetworth and Yelling.

Since Richard retired from full time work in 2016 after career in the motor industry, highways and transportation, he has become heavily involved in community affairs and enjoys working with local residents to resolve community concerns. He has previously served as a County Councillor, and is always very happy to meet local residents of all political persuasions and beliefs to discuss local issues. His aim is to make residents feel more engaged with local and national democracy and he encourages residents to contact him directly to bring any issues of concern to his attention. 

During his long and distinguished Council career, Richard has served as member, Chairman or Vice-Chairman of the Corporate Governance, Licensing, Employment and Development Management Committees - making sure that Huntingdonshire does not lose its character and identity as we continue to grow.

Richard is also the current Chairman of the District Council, a position he is very proud to hold for the honour of representing the people of Huntingdonshire.
