First elected to the District Council in 1992, John Davies is one of the longest serving Councillors on the District Council.
Having lived and worked in St Ives for more than 40 years, he has achieved an extensive record of service to St Ives. A short list of significant achievements include surface water drainage upgrades, resolving sewer problems, flood alleviation schemes, and new footpaths.
John's family includes his two daughters and four grandchildren, who have all benefitted from excellent local schools in St Ives. His sport-loving grandchildren are still benefitting from the considerable investment that the District Council has made in local community sports facilities.
As the current Vice-Chairman, John represents Huntingdonshire District Council at civic events across the county and is called upon to chair meetings of the full Council in the absence of the Chairman. He also offers his considerable experience of Council procedure when scrutinising decisions on the Overview and Scrutiny Panel (Performance & Growth).
